Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age.

Women with PCOS struggle with obesity and trouble losing weight excessive hair growth and skin problem like acne, infertility or irregular periods. Yet some women never display these symptoms. In PCOS, the ovaries produce higher than normal levels of male sex hormones. If left untreated, this hormonal imbalance can lead to serious chronic health problems like diabetes, heart diseases etc.

Exercise and nutrient –dense diets are two important things that should be in place if you are suffering from PCOS. Today I am going to give you some healthy tips for losing weight with PCOS.

Eat without distraction – eliminate distracted eating from your life by taking out eating time from your schedule. Eating while in front of the television or laptop or while driving increases the overall food intake. Leave your smart phone in another room while have your meal.

Drink 2 liters of water everyday – Water has a property to flux out the toxins from the body. You can flavor your water with fresh citrus, cucumber, mint or berries.

Control your blood sugar – Weight gain in PCOS can be linked to abnormalities in insulin and glucose metabolism. A PCOS diet reducing the amount of sugary carbs that you eat may offer the weight loss benefits that you may seek.

Avoid processed and refined foods – Avoid white flour, sugar, breads & pastas. Instead eat whole gluten-free grains like oatmeal, brown rice, millets, and amaranth.

Make push-ups part of your exercise program – Push-ups are one f the best upper body exercises one should do every day. Push-ups burn calories and build strength.

Be aware of liquid calories – Commercially prepared smoothies, coffee drinks, alcoholic beverages, canned juices, sodas should be kept at minimum while you are trying to lose weight.

Eat more veggies – vegetables have a lot of micronutrients and fibers. They are the ideal food for weight loss. You can cook the veggies or create salads, mix them with nuts or even have vegetable juices.

Work out first this in the morning – Out your workout routine before any other important thing of your day. Give your body a quality workout to help it deal with the situations that comes your way all through the day.
